If you are new to juicing, the Breville JE98XL is ideal for you. In this review, I will examine this juicer, and unpack its pros and cons for your benefit.
Juicing is both an art and science, and choosing the right juicer can be daunting. That’s why I have elected to do this.
Read this review, learn all you can about the JE98XL juicer, and decide if you will purchase it.
Features
Extra Wide Chute
The JE98XL contains an extra-wide 3-inch feeder chute, which can make 8oz of juice within 5 seconds. This enables busy customers to go about their business, and still get the nutrition they need without wasting too much time. It also makes the pre-juicing process of chopping up the produce into smaller parts unnecessary, which helps save time as well.
Stainless Steel Cutting Disc
It has an 850-watt dual-speed motor, with a powerful stainless steel cutting disc which ensures fast results. Again: saving time. Its stainless steel cutting disc is surrounded by micro mesh filter, which enables the juicer to extract 30% more juice and 40% more vitamins and minerals than most juicers. So in addition to saving time, you save juice and nutrients. Minimal wastage. Another benefit of the cutting disc: it is so powerful that it can juice large chunks of pineapple with the rind still included.
Dishwasher Safe
Not all juicers are made of parts that can endure the high temperatures of a dishwasher, or of the powerful detergents used in the same. They get damaged. They lose their durability. However, all the Breville JE98XL’s parts are dishwasher safe. During the manufacturing process, they are treated to ensure they can withstand these conditions.
Dual Speed
In juicing parlance, there are two types of foods: either hard or soft. Using the same juicing speed for both types defies logic, but many juicers do it. This juicer comes with two speed options: 12,000 RPM (Revolutions per Minute) for hard foods, and 6,500 RPM for soft foods. Doing the opposite would have made the juicer sub-optimum for some fruits or vegetables. Instead, it can juice hard fruits like beets, and softer fruits, as well as leafy greens like cantaloupes.
Pulp Collector
It combines ease of use with ease of cleaning. Most juicers have pulp ejection mechanisms. The JE98XL pulp collector can accommodate a large capacity, which means it will collect as much pulp as possible. This makes cleaning out the chamber easier. Also, most of the juicer’s parts can be cleaned on the top shelf of the dishwasher. This, coupled with the fact the parts are dishwasher safe, makes cleaning less stressful.
BPA-free
All parts that come into contact with food are made from BPA-free materials. BPA is an industrial chemical used in many plastics. Health experts warn that BPA can cause harm to young children and pets. Numerous companies have taken precaution to use BPA-free materials in manufacturing their products.
Downsides
Though powerful, it does not liquefy all produce equally, which is to be expected. In the case of tough fruits and veggies which cause clogging, chop them up into finer pieces before juicing them. That will make everything easier.
Worth It?
It doesn’t come with any extra accessories to rope you in like most juicers. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider it. At the core level, juicers are for juicing, plain and simple, and this juicer is excellent at that. And that’s what makes it ideal for the new juicer who only wants to juice and juice well.
